O Thunderclasp Newman surgiu em 1969 pelas mãos do guitarrista do The Who, Pete Townshend, que conseguiu um contrato para a banda com a Track Records e ainda produziu o primeiro e único álbum da banda,lançado em outubro de 1970. OS músicos eram da melhor qualidade (ver line up) e um repertório de primeira, com a clássica "Something In The Air", entre outras belas canções.
